Sotahuuto - s/t

Hailing from Finland, Sotahuuto features a member from the extreme metal band Renascent, and themselves plays a rough and raw metal style with some occasional hardcore influences that should appeal to fans of bands like Soulfly, Machine Head, Fasedown, and Living Sacrifice.  To say this is your typical, ho-hum metalcore band just because of the hardcore influences is way off the mark though.  Sotahuuto fails more squarely in the metal genre and their vocals, instead of the hardcore screams, are more of a gruff growl for the most part.  The band plays a very energetic style that has a very intimidating and dark feel to it.  Eero Tertsunen of Renascent, sent me this disc along with the new Renascent a few weeks ago and I'm certainly glad he did cause this is a fantastic album.  If you dig the above bands that I mentioned, it's almost a sure-fire bet that you'll love Sotahuuto.

As for the rest of the package, production is very solid and the artwork is very nice.  The lyrics, however, are in Finnish.  So I have no idea what they are singing about, except for the explanations on their website that say that the songs are about stuff like sin, temptation, the Holy Ghost, persecution, etc.

Not much else to say.  This is a great surprise and a disc that is worth the money to obtain.
