Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio - Apocalips

Crafted with gorgeous acoustic guitars, beautiful strings, and captivating piano playing, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio releases this new album, that CMI hails as one of the most anticipated releases of 2006.  While this album is a fine piece of work and probably the band's best release yet, I'd hardly call it one of MY most anticipated releases of 2006...even if you are only counting CMI releases.  I guess it depends on your tastes.  While the music here is seductive and passionate, and while the mixture of spoken, whispered, and sung vocals perfectly fit the music, I just can't get into this release as much as many of the other CMI releases I've heard recently.

My opinion aside about whether this album should be hailed as highly as it was, I will say that this is some great chillin' music.  Definitely something you don't want to put on if you are trying to stay awake on a cold, rainy day.  One thing that is very attractive about this band is their inclusion of some industrial elements into their sound.  This really makes this band more appealing to me and I would have started to become really bored had they focused on purely "pretty" music.  I also enjoy their occasional "choir" samples that give the band a little bit of a gothic edge as well.

Their biggest down-point, as was on their last album is the focus of their lyrics.  Some songs aren't that bad and focus on love and desire, but when they start going after the sex-slant, and anti-God, and dropping the f-bomb, it just kinda reduces the luster for me and turns them into a band that is focused more on how extreme they can be at times instead of just created good art.

As far as packaging goes, I only have a promo, but the CD booklet is very professional and has some great artwork!  Very nicely done!  Production is also very good.

All in all, I like the album...especially the songs with more industrial elements, but this is definitely something I have to be in the mood for and isn't something I'd listen to everyday.
