Abolishment of Hate - s/t

FINALLY!!!!!!!! There is finally an instrumental album that I love from start to finish. Thank you Abolishment of Hate! I usually cringe when I get instrumental albums in the mail to review. But this is a definite exception.

For those of you who didn't know, Abolishment of Hate is a Canadian, instrumental death metal band. The lone member in this "band" is ex-Mortification guitarist, Jeff Lewis. And let me tell you, if you love death metal you need to grab this disc. This should even appeal to those picky people who love death metal's heavy sound, but hate the vocals.

Lewis blasts, shreds, and grinds his way through four mega-brutal songs that stand head and shoulders above many bands that have vocalists. Think Cannibal Corpse, Disencumbrance, Crimson Thorn, and early Embodyment and you'll get an idea of the insanity on this disc. The guitars are full and powerful and just grind away until your brain is nothing but mush. Solid guitar solos and lead work offer slight diversions from the punishing riffs. One down side is that Lewis uses programmed drums. To tell you the truth though...you can hardly tell. The drumming sounds really good and doesn't detract at all from the overall sound.

This may only be 15 minutes of music, but it's worth every penny. So, pop in the CD, roll down your windows, and allow this absolutely crushing album to set off every car alarm in the neighborhood as you drive by. Go to http://www.jefflewis.ca for ordering info.
